Prayer Point for the Week – Let us pray that we would strive to have a lifestyle of passionate worship.
Questions for Reflection:
In 1 Samuel 17, Saul and his entire army were paralyzed by their fear of the giant, Goliath. What were the reasons for their fears? Why were their fears unfounded? What giants in your life have kept you in the chains of fear? Read 2 Timothy 1:7. What does this teach us about God’s will for your life?
David was full of zeal when he heard the giant’s taunts. What was he zealous for? What does this demonstrate about David’s heart? Where does your zeal lie and how can you correct it if it has been misplaced?
List the attributes that David demonstrated in 1 Samuel 17. Where do you think his zeal came from? Compare David with the Spirit-filled saints of the New Testament? How are they similar? What does that teach us about obtaining zeal?
The Bible teaches us that prayer in the Spirit and the Word of God are essential in waging effective spiritual warfare. How is the Word used against the enemies of the Lord? What does Romans 8:16 tell us about praying in the Spirit? What personal benefit does spiritual prayer bestow on those who practice it?
In addition to being a warrior, David was a worshipper of God. Jesus said that true worshippers worship in spirit and truth. Read Psalm 63. How did David live out true worship? What was his mindset? What does that tell us about how we should worship the Lord?
