This Weeks Prayer Point & Reflection Questions:
Prayer Point for the Week – Let us pray that God would give us the grace to prayerfully and lovingly encourage those who are going through a crisis of faith.
Questions for Reflection:
John the Baptist’s life was marked by bold faith. How did he obtain this boldness (see Luke 1:15)? Can today’s believer hope to attain or exceed this level of boldness? What insight does Matthew 11:11 give us concerning this?
In the beginning of Matthew chapter 11, John expresses doubts as to whether Jesus was the Messiah. Why is this surprising? What does this show us regarding our own potential to doubt? How should we view those who are also struggling with doubt?
John sincerely preached that Jesus was the Messiah, yet he had doubts. What do you think led to his doubt? Have you ever doubted God? What situations or arguments brought you into confusion over your faith?
How did Jesus respond to John’s disciples in Matthew 11? How could He have responded? What does this teach us about how God responds to our struggles with faith? What type of believer should we search out when struggling? What should mark our words and deeds when someone approaches us with their doubts?
What counsel did Jesus give John the Baptist? What things in scripture should we remind ourselves of during seasons of doubt? What present day things should we reflect upon? What things has God done in your life to affirm His existence and love for you?
