Questions for Reflection
Paul’s prayer for the church in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 is for them to be sanctified. What does that mean? How is it similar to righteousness? How is it different? How does the concept of being separated unto God affect the way that you think, pray and live?
1 Thessalonians 5:13-15 tells us to minster to one another out of a heart of love. Why is this sometimes difficult? What danger is there when offences occur between believers? How do you incorporate Ephesians 4:26 into your life/relationships?
1 Thessalonians 5:16&18 say we to both “rejoice” and “give thanks.” Are they saying the same thing or something different? List the ways that you are both joyful and full of praise.
We often say that prayer must be accompanied with praise. According to 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, is the opposite true? What other scriptures support or deny this?
Why is prayer more difficult for some people than praise? What does prayer say about our belief in God?  What does it say about what we believe about ourselves? Do you pray as if your life depends upon it? Why or why not?
