Prayer Point of the Week – In light of the Orlando tragedy, let us pray that Americans would turn to God and find grace, peace and forgiveness.

Questions for Reflection:

When tragedies such as the Orlando shooting occur, people are quick to look for cultural/political causes and solutions. How should the church look at such tragedies? How should the questions and solutions of the church differ from that of society?

It is easy to jump to conclusions when tragedy strikes. What are some of the negative consequences of quick assumptions? What wisdom does our text give us to overcome this trap? Do you find yourself doing this when you face difficulties?

James 1:19 tells us that we should be “slow to speak.” Is this an excuse to do nothing when tragedies happen? What should we do to both learn from and move forward to tragedy?

John 10:10 teaches us the nature of Satan. How does one put themselves into a place where they are deceived and influenced by Satan? Give some scriptural examples.

Satan will always try to capitalize on tragedy. What are some of the ways he may try to advance his agenda following this incident?

Romans 8:28 teaches us that all things work for good. What eternal good has emerged from past tragedies that can encourage our nation as we deal this current situation? How can the church be an instrument od good during theses times?
