Thursday, May 14th, begins our annual “10-Day Media Fast”.
Those participating will be abstaining from secular entertainment(movies, TV, music, books) social media, internet, video gaming, news programming & commentary, non-spiritual leisure activities and focusing on God.
The purpose of the fast is to clear our minds & hearts from the influences of the world on our faith, morals and reasoning. It is also a good time to clear our minds and spirits from the many distractions in life so that we can hear the still, small voice of God
During this time of separation from worldly things, folks will be spending time in the Word, prayer, Christians books, listening to Christian music and sermons and spending(non-electronic) time with family and other believers.
We do this practice before Pentecost, following the example of the disciples who spent the 10 days preceding the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in prayer seeking the power of God in their lives.
